#2. WHAT CONSTITUTES "INAPPROPRIATE" ATTIRE IN PICKLEBALL: RULES DEBATE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM

The rules of pickleball are one of the most debated issues in the sport. For instance, pickleball players have weighed in on whether the spin serve be permitted, or what rises to the level of a hindrance. And, now, after a recent pickleball tournament in Newport Beach, California, pickleball players may need to weigh in on what is considered “inappropriate” clothing for pickleball. 👗 Where do you come down on this new rules debate? 🤔

#3. "CRAZY KATHY" IS NOT CHICKEN WHEN IT COMES TO CHEERING FOR PICKLEBALL

We’ve learned these etiquette matters the hard way, and we're just passing it along because, well, there’s always a legion of new pickleball players out there. So, are you guilty of these traffic violations? 🚦 (*For those new to Murmurs from the Losers’ Bracket, this is a (mostly) humorous tongue-in-cheek opinion piece - don't take us too seriously.)

#6. RULES REFRESH - A SERVICE FOOT FAULT?

Have you ever seen a foot fault on a serve? If not, check out the video below, where pickleball pro Rob Nunnery gets called for a foot fault on his serve.

video preview

Your foot placement is important at the point of contact on your serve. At the point of contact between your paddle and the pickleball, at least one foot must remain in contact with the ground behind the baseline. Further, neither of your feet may touch the court on or inside the baseline, or on or outside of the imaginary extension lines of the applicable sideline or centerline. After you make contact on your serve, you are free to place your feet wherever you see fit.

Bottom line – Beware of your feet at the point of contact on your serve.🦶

At the latest Major League Pickleball event in Mesa, Arizona, the wind started to play a factor late in the weekend. Being a whiffle ball, the wind can certainly play tricks with a pickleball. Commentator Adam Stone offered three pieces of advice to handle playing pickleball in the wind:
